When choosing cosmetic ingredients you should always read the label, read the fine print for any side effects warning they may have. If you are unsure of what product you should choose, you can always check out the Environmental Working Group website on the internet before purchasing any sort of cosmetic product. Many product packages are designed to make you believe that the product is gentle and safe to use on any type of skin, when in fact it may contain ingredients that are irritating to the skin and may actually cause allergic reactions.

You should avoid products containing such ingredients as parabens, amines, and talc. Parabens are endocrine disrupters which mean they disturb the hormone balance in your body and can cause allergic reactions and may even be related to breast cancer tumors. Amiens are chemicals that can combine with nitrosating which is known to cause cancer. Some commonly used cosmetics that contain Amiens are Cocamide MEA, DEA, TEA, and sodium hydroxymethylglycinate. Talc which is commonly found in baby power and makeup such as blushes, face powder, and liquid foundation, can be dangerous to health if it contains asbestiform fibers, which can cause cancer.

Other products to be avoided are products containing Coal Tar, Aluminum and Sodium Lauryl Sulphate. Coal Tar, which is the synthetic colors used in lipsticks and shampoos should be avoided because these chemicals have been known to cause headaches, nausea, allergies, cancer and skin disorders among other things. Yellow #10 is a perfect example of a synthetic color. Aluminum is found in many products such as eye shadow, eye liner and mascara and is a neurotoxin that is known to damage the heart and lungs and can also cause infertility and Alzheimers disease. Sodium Lauryl Sulphate is found in skin crèmes and toothpastes and this helps the product to make its lather. This toxic ingredient makes the skin dry and can also combine with other ingredients to create toxic compounds.

When making a choice of what products to choose, look for products that are labeled environmentally friendly, because these products are made through natural processes, using natural ingredients and without harmful chemicals. Also be very careful when choosing soaps, because there are many poor quality soaps out there on the market that contain ingredients that can strip the skin of its natural moisture shield which can break down the bodys immune system leaving the skin dry and thereby causing the skin to age more rapidly.

Winter can be terrible on the skin; cold weather makes your skin become dry as it literally sucks the moisture out of the epidermis, leaving it itchy and tight, and uncomfortable. Fine lines start to look deeper and your complexion appears rough and flaky, it just makes you feel downright miserable, but thank goodness for modern technology that you can actually buy a heating unit which is not very expensive to keep the cold out of your home, bones and skin. These humidifiers come in all shapes and sizes and can safely be placed in almost every room of your house, and the good news is that there is sure to be one that you will be able to afford.

You should moisturize your face and body with a thick moisturizing cream or lotion during the day whenever you feel that you skin is becoming dry, and also after you have showered. You should also use an oil based supplement such as cod-liver oil or flaxseed oil to moisturize your body from within. You should drink at least eight glasses of water per day as it helps keep the skin from dehydrating and it is also beneficial to your health overall.

This piece of advice may sound weird but it is recommended that you use a sunblock during the winter months, because the ultraviolet rays can be intense even on a cloudy day, so you should choose a sunblock that will block both the UVA and UVB rays. Use gentle cleansers on your face because it is more delicate than other parts of the body. You should use a gentle body scrub to exfoliate your skin to get rid of built up dead skin cells leaving a fresh looking layer of skin that you can safely moisturize.

When you talk about taking care of your skin in winter most people omit the treatment of their lips which has an entirely different type of skin than the rest of the body. People with dry or chapped lips should be sure to get a good vitamin and mineral supplement. There are many different types of lip balms but most of them usually worsen the situation so be sure to use one specifically for dry winter skin. Also it is not recommend that you lick your lips in order to moisten them because this can also worsen the situation. You should drink lots of water at regular intervals, and if you must wear lipstick you should look for one that does not contain chemicals that will dry the skin.

Eat Skin Foods – That’s Right – Foods That Your Skin Absolutely Loves

A diet containing fruits, vegetables and protein are considered a good diet to follow in order to have beautiful looking skin, foods such as whole-grain bread, whole wheat pasta and brown rice can be digested slowly and won’t lead to that insulin rush. Fish is a great source of fatty acids that is essential for the body, you should try eating a salmon sandwich or if you prefer a tuna fish sandwich or a tuna salad which everybody seems to love, instead of a hamburger or hotdog. This would not be good advice if we did not mention to drink lots of water because the body needs water to flush out toxins as well as re-hydrate the skin.

Yogurt is said to be the only dairy product that is good for the skin, because it is easy to digest, due to the probiotic bacteria it contains which is also important for healthy radiant skin, as they improve the immune system and kill bacteria that cause skin problems such as acne and black heads. However you should avoid yogurts sold in the local supermarkets, as they do not contain the probiotic bateria and are not really much help to your body.

Green leafy vegetables such as lettuce and cabbage are very good for you as they contain antioxidants, minerals, micro nutrients and vitamins that your skin requires in order to stay healthy and look young. A nice combination would be some of these green vegetables and fruits such as apples, grapes and pears, which would really make a tasty salad; you might want to add some nuts for that added touch. You can also cook your green leafy vegetables by steaming them with a little garlic and onions and just a touch of butter to enhance the flavor.

Drink lots of fresh juices whatever is in season at the moment whether it is watermelon, oranges, tomatoes, or pineapples, these sweet fruits are excellent for the skin, because they are rich in natural antioxidants they help protect the skin from damage which can be caused by reactive oxygen based chemicals commonly found in free radicals. Fat is also essential for healthy looking skin because the healthy fat helps keep the skin soft, supple and younger looking, so you should eat some form of foods that contain fat, such as beans and peas.

People with oily skin should wash their face at least three times a day, but bear in mind that excessive washing can stimulate your oil glands to produce more oil. Oily skin needs special cleansing with plenty of water and soap to prevent pores from getting clogged. Do not use products that are harsh on the skin, as these can strip your skin of its natural oils and leave it feeling taut and dehydrated and can hamper the flow of oil through the pores which can lead to blockages and cause problems such as acne breakouts.

When choosing a cleanser you should avoid using heavy cleansing creams and harsh soaps, as these will definitely stimulate the oil glands into action. You should use products that are oil based to cleanse your skin as they dissolve sebum effectively. You can choose soaps made of natural ingredients such as Aloe Vera based soap or a light medicated soap, if you prefer you can try using an antibacterial cleansing lotion and use it with mineral water, be sure that it is hot water as hot water dissolves skin oil much faster than lukewarm water. Avoid cleansers or lotions that contain alcohol, as they can be harsh on the skin.

If you have extremely oily skin, you should wash your face at least three or four times a day and avoid using any type of moisturizer, if you must use a moisturizer be sure that it is not an oil based moisturizer in order to maintain an oil free complexion. If your oily skin is flaky, you should try using a deep defoliant every other night, followed by a light coating of moisturizer. If you have sensitive skin you should try using a clay mask made out of white or rose colored clays.

Diet is also important in the treatment of oily skin, as with everything else, you should eat foods rich in proteins but without sugar and salt. Eat plenty of leafy green vegetables such as lettuce and cabbage and fresh fruits as apples, oranges and avocado. It is also important for you to take in vitamins and so foods rich in vitamins such as beans, nuts, and wheat germ which provided vitamins A and B. Also eat foods such as black beans and whole grain rice, which supply iron to the body to rejuvenate pale skin, Vitamin B2 is the most important vitamin for the condition of oily skin and the slightest deficiency of Vitamin B2 can result in oily skin. Drink plenty of mineral water to help keep the skin hydrated and to flush out toxins from the body.

When it comes to skincare for women- many women feel it is necessary that they try as best as they possibly can to develop a routine that would ensure them beautiful, glowing skin. Especially when it comes to the face, experts say that the key to clear, clean skin is a threefold process-cleanse, tone and moisturize. There are many benefits that could be experienced when these are done on a daily basis.

Cleansing the skin is the first process that should be done when caring for the skin. Throughout the day, we are exposed to many environmental factors such as dust, wind, heat etc. It is also necessary to note that the skin produces thousands of dead cells every day. The accumulation of dirt and dead cells serves to clog the pores and this leads to problems such as breakouts and acne which may leave the skin permanently damaged and scarred. As such, cleansing the skin at least twice a day is a necessity since it reduces eh effects of pollutants on the skin. Clean skin tends to glow whereas skin that is not cleansed regularly tends to have a dull appearance. It is advised that normal soap should not be used on skin since it tends to have a drying effect on the skin added to the fact that normal soaps are too harsh for the face.

The process of toning the skin serves to remove the remnants of whatever cosmetic products are used as well as cleansers that are used on the face. It also restores the pH balance of the skin to its natural level. Therefore, all women should include the use of a toner in their daily skincare regimen in order to have beautiful skin.

Toner contains astringent which seals the pores, tightens skin and protects it from toxins and the effects of environmental factors. However, when purchasing toners, you should be aware of the ingredients in the product. Many toners tend to have alcohol as one of the main ingredients, but this tends to destroy collagen that can be found under the surface of the skin. Therefore, alcohol-free toners should be used as much as possible.

It has been found that skin that is exposed to the natural elements of nature tends to lose moisture and wrinkle. Therefore, it is imperative that women moisturize after they clean and tone the skin since this improves the elasticity of the skin and serves as a barrier against environmental factors that affect the skin. Moisturiser also replenishes the natural moisture that is in the skin. One of the best moisturizer for the skin is water. It serves to moisten the skin and halts the process of aging of the skin. When applying moisturizer, it should be applied lightly and you should start at the centre and move outward.

The process of caring for your skin is very intricate and delicate. As people age, their skin tends to require more effort and care. Aging skin is prone to dryness, wrinkles, sagging and age spots. As such, it is necessary that special care be taken so that aging skin can still look its best.

For persons who are aging, the importance of wearing daily sunscreen cannot be stressed enough. Sunscreen serves to protect the skin from wrinkling and from the development of age spots. This not only applies to the face but the entire body, especially the hands. When purchasing cosmetics such as moisturizer and foundation, you should purchase one that includes a sunscreen and that blocks both UVA and UVB rays. The moisturizer or foundation should have a minimum SPF of 15 in order to be effective against the damage that can be done to the skin by sun rays. In addition to the use of sunscreen, persons who are aging should try as best as possible to minimize the time that is spent in the sun since excessive exposure to sun is damaging to the skin. As much as possible, persons who are aging should try to wear long sleeved shirts, long pants and hats when in the sun.

It is necessary that attention be paid to the ingredients that are in your skin care products since certain ingredients tend to damage skin. Since aging skin is more prone to damage, then extra care should be taken. Products that include ingredients such as menthol, lime, lavender, fragrances and botanical oils should be used in small amounts if they are used at all. Also, the skin should be moisturized especially in cold weather and dry heat. These environmental factors tend to make skin more susceptible to damage. Wrinkles also appear to look worse when the skin is dry, therefore the skin should remain moisturized.

With respect to cleansers, persons with aging skin should make use of alpha-hydroxy cleansers and lotion especially if they have age spots on their skin. These cleansers and lotions aid in the reduction of the appearance of fade spots. In addition to cleansers and moisturizers, it would be wise to use fade creams or cosmetic products that are geared specifically towards reducing the appearance of age spots.

With respect to skincare, it would be remiss to not mention the effect that lifestyle plays in the aging process of the skin as well as the appearance of skin. There are certain habits that speed up the process of aging and these should be eliminated as best as possible from one’s lifestyle. Habits such as smoking tend to speed up the process of aging of the skin and it also increases wrinkles and dryness. Cigarette smoke serves to deplete the level of Vitamin C in the body, a vitamin which is essential in keeping the skin looking moist and plump. Lack of exercise, lack of sleep, exposure to cold weather, alcohol consumption and stress also speed up the aging process of skin. Removing these things from your lifestyle would ensure that you would have healthy skin, even as you age.

Facial scrubs are excellent for giving you that healthy pink cheeked glow we see on Hollywood stars who have professional makeup artists to give them it artificially. For those of us unwilling to spend the time or unskilled with the makeup brush but can find a minute or two to wash our faces, facial scrubs are the perfect answer. Facial Scrubs exfoliate the skin – that is they scrub off the dead or dry layers from the surface of the skin and expose the softer, pinker, healthy skin below.

Facial scrubs can either be all natural (even home made) or chemically based. Chemically based face scrubs use different strengths of things like salicylic or citric acids to remove the dead skin cells from your face. However, be very careful if you decide to use a chemical face scrub as some people are allergic to salicylic acids or the concentration may be too strong for your skin, a bad reaction can feel like a burn – not a good feeling on your face. Natural face scrubs physically scrub the dead cells off. They can be made with sugar, sand, salts, citrus, lavender, the most popular is made from the finely ground pits of apricots.

The gentlest face scrub you can make is simply warm water and baking soda as strange as that sounds. You pour yourself a handful of baking soda and add a teaspoon of water, mixing the two in your hands until it resembles brown sugar in consistency (add too much and the mixture will resemble wet flour, too little and it’ll be too liquid) then simply scrub your face with the mixture and feel the difference. If you have sensitive skin or have never used a facial scrub before, this is your best option as it’s unlikely to produce a bad reaction in most skin types.

If you decide to use a face scrub you should be aware of this important fact – the benefit of a face scrub is that it removes dead cells from the surface of your skin, skin takes two weeks to replenish itself, if you just used the scrub yesterday and you use it again today you’re not scrubbing off dead skin cells but the healthy cells you just uncovered yesterday. Some skin may recover faster than others but for the most part it’s best if you only use the scrub once every two weeks. Another thing to be aware of is the fact that your body doesn’t naturally remove the dead dry cells for a reason – to protect the healthy cells beneath them. So if you use a facial scrub be sure to moisturize and use sunscreen on your face in the days following.

When it comes to physical appearance, many persons are seeking to find the fountain of youth that would allow them to look as young as possible for as long as possible. However, it must be said that as your age increases, so does the chance for there to be a drastic change in your appearance. AS people age, the elasticity in the skin reduces and this results in the development of wrinkles, fine lines etc. Also for persons who are frequently in the sun, they tend to develop age spots and dark spots since the sun increases the level of melanin that is in the skin and causes the development of these discolorations. However, you should not be discouraged about the condition of your skin. You should not be afraid of aging. With the number of anti-aging products available on the market, you can be sure to age gracefully and beautifully as long as you use the right products.

One of the anti-aging products that have been around for a long time is anti-aging creams and lotions. These help in fighting wrinkles, fine lines and they also make you look younger. These creams work by thickening the layer of the skin called the epidermis which results in an increase in the elastic tissues of the skin as well as an increase in the deposition of collagen. The key ingredient in anti-aging creams is retinoid and this aids in the rejuvenation of the skin.

Another key ingredient in anti-aging skin care that you should look for when purchasing products is alpha-lipoic acid. This acid has a quadruple role in fighting the aging process of the skin: it provides antioxidants which help to maintain the mitochondria of the skin whose function it is to give skin a youthful appearance; it turns off the kappa B in the skin which tends to cause damage to the skin.

Alpha-lipoic acid also activates AP-1 which regulates the collagen in the skin. All these functions work together to repair and prevent the damage that aging does to the skin.

Using skin care products that contain glycolic acid also aid in the anti-aging process. Glycolic acid is the most potent alpha-hydroxyl acid and its function is to remove wrinkles from aging skin. It works by breaking down the old skin cells which would then be replaced by new skin cells which come from below the surface of the skin. Products containing alpha-lipoic acid, retinoic acid, Vitamin A as well as glycolic acid should always be used if your goal for your skin is to prevent aging and to remain as youthful looking as possible.

Dark spots are mainly caused by Age, Sun Or Pigmentation

When it comes to the skin, it must be said that there are many different problems that affect different people. The majority of these problems are centered around scars and discolorations on the skin which may cause many people to become self conscious and embarrassed. Discolorations on the skin take the form of dark spots, age spots and sun spots etc. However, you should not be discouraged if you are afflicted with any of these conditions since there are many products on the market that would be able to lessen the appearance of age spots, sun spots and dark spots and there are also products that can remove the discolorations completely.

In order to understand how to get rid of these blemishes, it is necessary to know how these discolorations are formed and what causes them to appear on the skin. The main culprit in the formation of discolorations on the skin is the sun. The rays that are produced by the sun contain ultraviolet radiation. This type of radiation catalyzes the production of melanin in the body. When too much melanin is produced, it results in discoloration of the skin. It is for this reason that persons should try to include the use of a sunscreen daily so that it would minimize the effects of the rays of the sun.

One of the key factors that would be essential in removing all kinds of discolorations from the skin is lifestyle. In order to have clear, clean, smooth skin, you should typically eat a diet that is made up mainly of fruits and vegetables. The vitamins A, C and E that are found in healthy food products serve to brighten the complexion, reduce the appearance of discolorations and ensure general health of the skin. Sleep is also a key factor in getting rid of spots since the skin regenerates while you sleep.

When it comes to products, persons who wish to rid their skin of sun, dark or age spots should consider using products that contain alpha hydroxyl acids. These particular ingredients aid in reducing the appearance of discolorations on the skin. Also, the use of bleaching creams which contain hydroquinone aid in the removal of age spots, dark spots and sun spots. However, it is necessary to take into consideration your skin type when buying these products since they may have adverse reactions and cause further damage to your skin.
